We welcome anyone who meets the following requirements set forth by FOOLS INTERNATIONAL. Interested parties can meet with us at our monthly meetings or by sending an email request.
DUES ARE A ONE TIME DEAL. $20.00 TOTAL
$10.00 PAYABLE TO "FOOLS INTERNATIONAL"
$10.00 PAYABLE TO "CENTRAL MARYLAND FOOLS"
MD/VA SKYPE MEETING W/ INTERNATIONAL E BOARD
SKYPE: We are now using Skype due to it being free as well as it being a good way to communicate with a number of people at the same time. Thus far it has been a very useful tool and the meetings with each of the chapters has gone quite well.
Membership: Annual dues are figured out in October and the mailing is sent out either the end of November or Early December. It is very important around the end of September the beginning of October to get the International a updated roster so they have an accurate number of chapter members.
The start of the fiscal year for the international is January.
There has been communication of some external issues that some of the chapters are facing where senior officers in some departments are pushing against fools members or those interested in becoming members.
Jimmy McCormack is part of fire department interactive he is able to get articles published to get the good fools name out there.
There is talk now of adding a sponsor line on the application where applicant has to have a existing FOOLS member sponsor the applicant.
We are able to get instructors Morning Pride Gear thru firechasers.com out of MD @ 50% off.
The international is looking to put together a list of certified instructors with their credentials and specialties. Please forward this info onto the chapter president to have a list developed then submit to the International.
Meetings: Maybe consider doing meetings quarterly.
Get wives involved
Put the internationals name out there if there are any issues so they can be contacted.
Bobby Halton has been a big advocate of FOOLS organization.
Send personal invites to chief officers to come out that night of meeting with Chief Halton.
Terry Farrell Fund- try and get a few members to assist with the booth at FH Expo.
Convention 2010: Is September 22 – 26 in Orlando $130.00 per night. The international is saying this is a convention to be at.
Training: When we do any training make sure to email Dougan an outline and Sippy so it could be put on the International site.
Insurance: Make sure we have liability insurance for any hands on training in order to protect ourselves our chapter and the international. The international has several insurance carriers listed on their site that could be used if needed. If the individual chapter finds their own insurance please send the info to the international so they can add it to their working list of carriers.
501C3: Get it submitted and once get the status make sure to document everything. Donations what they are and what its for, money in money out etc.
